| La Mère Vipère was
formed in 2005 by former members of Seven Hearts and Leper Colony in an
attempt to carry on the outsider tradition of those bands. LMV’s approach
is to attempt to be original while reconciling and respecting the
burdening weight of their influences. The music re-contextualizes the
directness and aggression of hardcore, the obtuseness and ingenuity of
post-punk, and the power and drama of metal in an effort to create
something new. Lyrically the band deals in existentialism and surrealism
in an attempt find new perspectives on old subjects. Some of the members
of LMV have been playing together for over fifteen years (actually having
started their first band together) and this is apparent in live
performances that run the gamut from taut exercises in precision to
shambolic blasts of sheer unmitigated noise.
LMV’s new album, Final Audit of Mammon, is being
made available for
free download via CNP and the band
encourages you to investigate, and if you so chose share with others, the
music which they have worked so diligently to create. |
